History of Steppin’ Out Academy Dorset

Steppin’ Out was founded in 1991 by Principal Angela Taylor (nee Harris). Originally based at Hamworthy Liberal Hall, the school moved to St Michael’s Church Hall, then in 1995 to Carter Community Sports College, Hamworthy, Poole.
Due to demand Steppin’ Out opened a branch in Bournemouth, and Sturminster Marshall Village Hall.
In 2014 the main Poole Academy moved to its own purpose built studios at Unit 3 (first floor) 446a Blandford Road. The facilities are the best in the South offering three dance studios with sprung floors, air conditioning, mirrors and barres, girls and boys changing rooms, along with a lovely reception area containing a dance shop and cafe. In 2021 two additional dance studios were added along with a costume department.
