ALISON REDWOOD: PARENT

My two sons (aged 8 and 11) have been attending classes at Steppin Out Academy since 2019. They take part in multiple genres of classes and also take part in their shows, compete in competitions, attend workshops plus participate in their Summer Intensive programme. When they started, they both enjoyed a small bit of dance and wanted to try to experience as much as possible. Steppin Out ignited a passion in them both which has taken their hobby and turned it into a way of life. The academy is a friendly environment which promotes good behaviour and a great place to learn and also to make likeminded friends. The boys were welcomed in with open arms and are surrounded by positive role models in the older children. If you want opportunities in dance or theatre then this is the place to go. The teachers are happy supporting the children with dance as a hobby or also helping push them to progress to a higher level if they want to take it further. It is an academy that truly tries to nurture the individual. With their support, Steppin Out has opened up so many doors of opportunities for my boys. In fact this year, both boys have been cast in a professional musical UK tour. Something we only imagined would happen in dreams before joining the academy. I always assumed you needed to live in London or attend a permanent performing arts school to achieve something like that, but at Steppin Out, the teachers believe you can achieve anything-and you truly can. It is an exceptional and inspirational academy.

GUY SHIMMONS: PARENT

We have been part of the Steppin’ Out family for over fifteen years. Both our daughters, now seventeen and fifteen, have enjoyed dancing, singing and performing with their friends at Steppin Out. If it’s not Tap or Modern, Ballet or Point, it’s Irish,Jazz or Street. The girls have loved every opportunity to be involved with all forms of dance and have performed in many shows, cabarets and public performances including shows in London’s West End. Our eldest daughter has also been undertaking nationally recognised dance teaching qualifications. The build up to show time is always busy and fun, with the girls taking on extra lessons and the pressure of perfecting their rehearsals. Mum gets involved helping with hair and make-up on show night and even I’ve been known to get involved with serving refreshments. As a parent I couldn’t ask for a better environment for my children. They’ve learnt new life skills and made great friends in a safe and happy environment of one of the best Performing Arts Schools in the South.

I just felt that I must write and congratulate you on the outstanding teaching that you give to my daughter Pia. She has been dancing with you at Steppinout since the age of four and is now 13. Both her dancing and confidence in herself has improved immensely under your great teaching and guidance, so much so that Pia has said she would like to train as a teacher and is now helping to teach on a Thursday and Tuesday. Also your productions are simply amazing and improve year on year. Pia loves dancing with your school and is really privileged to also be part of the SOAP Company.I have recommended and will continue to recommend Steppinout to all of my friends and family.

In November 2010 my daughter and I went to see a show put on by Steppin’ Out Academy of Performance, we were so impressed with what we saw that my daughter went for a free trial lesson in the December and was hooked. She started with there in the January 2011 and has never looked back. I am so impressed with the school, my daughter had not had any dance training before this but enjoyed musical theatre and now she is a very talented dancer and performer and is so confident in this area that she also takes part in Dance Festivals, Ballet awards and Janet Cram awards thanks to the amazing teaching that she has received at this school.Angela Taylor is an excellent teacher and runs a first class school that teaches many different genres including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Irish as well as Musical Theatre so the children get the whole package. With excellent shows and exam results Angela is a credit to her profession teaching the children not only syllabus work but also she goes that extra mile so that the children are ready for what lies ahead of them if they want to pursue careers in this industry be it as a dancer, a performer or even a dance teacher. All the children love coming to the school and learn more and more each week, Steppin’ Out is a fantastic school and has amazing teaching staff I can whole heartedly recommend it to anyone.

LAUREN BRIDLE: FORMER STUDENT

At Steppin’ Out Academy of Dance, Angela creates a unique, detailed and caring training experience; the making of the all-round, technically strong dancer and individual performer. Angie’s attention to the individual and encouragement to embrace each personality, is something unique and wonderfully helpful in becoming an artist in the profession. A good insight into the professional world through countless opportunities to perform in highly produced shows, cabaret performances and at events and competitions, encouraged my younger self to pursue the arts as a career, for which i am eternally grateful.Steppin’ Out was full of joyful experiences, challenges and great friends. With the incredible teacher student relationship, and healthy competitive environment where it works well to work well, I’m utterly grateful to have trained at Steppin’Out Academy of Dance. It was an un-comparative experience and introduction into the world of the
